I'm Deborah. And I believe the first time you see your baby should be pure magic

Sonographer | Mom | Owner of Baby Tyme Ultrasound Studio

I’m a skilled sonographer with years of experience and a deep passion for capturing life’s most precious moments. I’ve performed thousands of scans and helped countless families bond with their babies. But what truly matters is that I treat every mom, every partner and every family like my own.

Experienced, Certified and Passionate.

I didn't become a sonographer just to operate a machine

I became a sonographer because I understand the mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with pregnancy. I remember wondering, ‘Is my baby okay?’ ‘What do they look like?’ ‘Who will they be?’ I wanted to be the person who could not only answer those questions with skill, but could do it with warmth, empathy and joy.

That’s what Baby Tyme is all about. Not a cold, clinical room, but a cozy, welcoming space where you can exhale, connect and fall even more in love with your baby. Whether it’s your first scan or your fifth, you’re family here.

Your Questions Answered

Everything you need to know about your Baby Tyme ultrasound scan and antenatal class experience.
What is the best time for a 3D/4D or HD/5D ultrasound scan at Baby Tyme?

For the most detailed and clear facial images of your baby, we generally recommend booking your 3D/4D or HD/5D scan between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. Before 26 weeks, your baby may not have enough fat to fill out their features, and after 32 weeks, they might be too big or positioned too low, making it harder to get clear images. We’re happy to discuss the ideal timing for your unique pregnancy when you inquire!

What is the difference between 2D, 3D/4D, and HD/5D scans?
  • 2D Scans: These are the traditional black-and-white images, providing flat, cross-sectional views. They are primarily used for medical assessment, confirming pregnancy, estimated due date, and fetal growth.

  • 3D/4D Scans: These advanced ultrasounds create three-dimensional still images (3D) and real-time video clips (4D) of your baby. You can see your baby’s features, movements, and sometimes even expressions.

  • HD/5D Scans: These are the latest in ultrasound technology, offering ultra-realistic, high-definition images with natural skin tones and soft lighting. They provide the most lifelike glimpse of your baby before birth, almost like a photograph. All scan types are available at our Kyalami, Midrand studio.

Is the ultrasound scan medically safe for my baby and me?

Yes, ultrasound technology has been used safely in pregnancy for decades. At Baby Tyme, we use diagnostic ultrasound equipment operated by an experienced, SASUOG accredited sonographer, Deborah, who adheres strictly to safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of both mother and baby. Our scans are for keepsake and reassurance purposes; they do not replace your diagnostic medical scans with your doctor.

Can I confirm my baby's gender during the scan?

Yes! Gender confirmation is a popular feature included with our 3D/4D and HD/5D pregnancy scans. As long as your baby is in a cooperative position, our sonographer will happily confirm the gender for you.

What is included in the Private Antenatal Class, and why should I consider it?

Our Private Mini Antenatal Class offers one-on-one support tailored to your needs. It covers crucial topics like understanding your pregnancy, stages of labour and birth, pain management, breathing techniques, newborn care basics, breastfeeding fundamentals, and postpartum realities. It’s designed to empower you with knowledge and confidence for your birth journey, all in a comfortable, private setting in Kyalami / Midrand. Plus, you receive a FREE Baby Bag (value R350) with every class booking!

What if my baby isn't in a good position for images during my 3D/4D or HD/5D scan?

We always do our best to get beautiful images of your baby. If your baby is not in a good position, our experienced sonographer will often try different techniques, or we may ask you to take a short walk or have a drink to encourage movement. In rare cases where a clear view isn’t possible during the scheduled time, we may offer a complimentary re-scan (terms and conditions apply). Your satisfaction is important to us at Baby Tyme.

Do you offer scans for early pregnancy reassurance?

Yes, our 2D First Trimester Scans (6 to 12 weeks) are perfect for early reassurance. You can listen to your baby’s heartbeat, receive a detailed medical report, and gain peace of mind during this exciting stage of pregnancy. These affordable scans are ideal between your official doctor appointments.
